Alice Hurst Oakley

Charlotte.................................Mrs. Alice Hurst Oakley, age 95, a native of Durham, NC and longtime resident of Charlotte passed away on September 15, 2017 at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville, NC. Mrs. Oakley was born December 6, 1921. She married Stanley Preston Oakley and moved to Charlotte in 1954. Alice was a member of Joy Worker's Sunday School Class at Midwood Baptist Church. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, and grandmother. Mrs. Oakley is preceded in death by her husband, Stanley Preston Oakley. She is survived by her son, Dr. Stanley P. Oakley, Jr., his wife, Vickie Oakley, and granddaughter, Victoria Oakley of Greenville, NC. Additionally, she is survived by her sister, Sadie Brooks of Bassett, Virginia; and many nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held at Midwood Baptist Church, 2029 Mecklenburg Avenue, Charlotte, NC at 11:30 A.M. on Saturday, October 21, 2017 with Dr. Garry Baldwin officiating. The family will receive friends and relatives following the service with a reception in the church fellowship hall. Burial will be private.
