Farmville..................................Carol Taylor Avery Sermons, age 82, passed peacefully from the confines of this earth into the gates of heaven on November 10, 2015, at Vidant Medical Center. The funeral service will be officiated by the Reverend Ronnie Mohn on Thursday, November 12 at 7:00 p.m., following visitation from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., in the sanctuary of Marlboro Free Will Baptist Church. The church is located at 8031 US Highway 264A, Farmville, North Carolina. The burial will be held privately the following day. Carol was born December 23, 1932 in the Shines community in Greene County, one of seven children. She was preceded in death by her parents Berry and Maggie Ham Taylor; sisters, Delma Shepherd and Gertrude Wheeler; brother, Bruce Taylor; husband, Walter J. Avery and husband, J.E. Sermons. Carol leaves to cherish her memory, three daughters, Shelby and husband, Kenny Bryan of Farmville; Eve and husband, Roddy Jones of Raleigh; Rhonda and husband, James Forrest of Farmville; and two grandchildren, Amy Bryan Johnson and husband, Scott of Farmville; and Joshua Forrest of Farmville. She also leaves two loving great-grandchildren, Avery and Kayla Johnson of Farmville and three sisters, Edna Frizzelle of Farmville, Grace Vaughn of Shines and Patricia Suthard Smith of Greenville. The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to all of the caregivers over the past year and the staff of palliative care at Vidant Medical Center during her last days.
