Ethel Morgan Bridgers

Ethel Morgan Bridgers, age 94, of Farmville, NC passed away at her home on Friday, August 4, 2017. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Edward Bridgers; parents, Ernest and Mary Langley Morgan; sister, Mary Ruth Turner; and brothers, Frank Morgan and Bobby Morgan. She is survived by her daughter, Judy Owens of the home; granddaughters, Kimberly and Rhonda Owens; grandson, Derek Owens and his wife, Amanda; great grandchildren, Catie Durrett and Luke Owens; sister, Lucille Page; sister-in-law, Charlotte B. Whitfield; caregiver, Valerie Joyner. Mrs. Bridgers was a loving and selfless wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and special aunt to many nieces and nephews. She was born in Fountain on October 14, 1922 and spent most of her life near Fountain where she farmed with her husband of 63 years, Billy. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, sewing, and caring for her beloved grandchildren. In 2006, at age 83, she began a mission and sewed hundreds of dresses for little girls in Haiti and Nicaragua. Visitation at the Farmville Funeral Home, Sunday evening, August 6, from 6 until 7 o'clock pm followed by funeral service at 7 pm by Rev. Kevin Diebert. Burial will be on Monday morning at 11 o'clock at Queen Anne Cemetery in Fountain.
