Ayden...........................James Russell Farmer Jr., age 54 died Friday, August 26, 2016 at his home. Funeral service will be conducted Tuesday, August 30, at 10:30 A.M. at Elm Grove Original Free Will Baptist Church by Dr. Frankie Baggett. Interment will follow in Ayden Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 5:30 until 7:30 P.M. at Elm Grove Original Free Will Baptist Church. Mr. Farmer was preceded in death by his father, James Russell "Jimmy" Farmer and daughter, Ashley Farmer. He is survived by his wife, Sandra Farmer of the home; daughter, Jessica Setzer and husband, Kelly of Winterville; mother, Faye Albritton Farmer of Ayden; grandchildren, Asher and Baylor Setzer. Full of life and abundant in love for others, most knew Russell ("Digger") well for those characteristics. He never knew a stranger. You could not be around him for very long without having a smile appear on your face and a giggle in your heart, as his sweet spirit was contagious. We will always remember him for his lively personality, gentle soul, and twinkle in his eye anytime he encountered loved ones - friends or family. Healed from all sickness, he is now rejoicing with Jesus and enjoying a long awaited reunion with his father, Jimmy, and daughter, Ashley. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Ashley Farmer Scholarship Fund of the Greater Greenville Community Foundation, P.O. Box 3985, Greenville, NC 27836.
