Farmville……Charlene Colon, Lt. Commander US Navy (retired) passed away Friday, April 12, 2024 in Greenville, NC.
Charlene was born February 23, 1953, in Philadelphia, PA to the late Dr. Cesar Humberto Colon and Mary Ann Colon. She graduated from College Misericordia in Pennsylvania with a Batchelor’s Degree in Home Economics and taught high school students for several years. She enlisted in the United States Navy and rose to the rank of Lieutenant Commander and gave many years to the service of Health Care Administration for the Navy. She was a true patriot who loved and supported her country.
During her adult years she was active in fashion design, sewing, pageant support and won may awards for original clothing design and embroidery. She loved animals and took many in during her years. Also, she was an excellent cook and prepared many interesting and delicious meals.
She is predeceased by her parents, Mary Ann Colon and Dr. Cesar Colon-Bonet.
She is survived by her brother, Cesar Colon (Rose), of Greenville, NC; niece, Lindsey Vazquez (Andre); grand-nieces Blair and Kameron Vazques all of Greenville, NC.
Other family include siblings, Cara McLauchlan (Russ); Ivan Scott Colon (Malinda); Glenn Colon-Bonet (Jeanne); Denise Colon-Bonet (Ray Waite); Will Colon (Mary-Catherine); Armand Colon and Francis Colon (Lynne); and stepmother, Myrna Colon.

A private memorial service for our sister, aunt, and US Navy veteran was held on Tuesday, April 23, 2024 at Farmville Funeral Home.
