Farmville…………………….Joseph Anthony Santopolo (Big Joe), age 62, passed away peacefully Saturday, March 30, 2024 surrounded by his family after a sudden illness. Joe was the son of Linda Raimondi of Palm Bay, FL and preceded in death by his father Anthony Santopolo of Indianapolis, IN.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 39 years, Cassandra Evans Santopolo of Farmville; son, Joseph Santopolo (Ashley) of Roanoke Rapids; daughter, Caroline Leigh Santopolo of Farmville; four grandchildren, Ava, Jack, Catherine and Allie; older sister, Sherry Santopolo Brackett and many nieces and nephews.
Joe was a proud veteran of the United States Army with the 2/505 82nd Airborne Division out of Ft. Bragg with combat experience during the Grenada Conflict of 1983. Joe was an active member in his community involved with many organizations, such as Boy Scouts of America, NRA shooting team, a football coach with St. Peter’s Catholic School and participated in various other community events. He was a retired Deputy Sherriff with the Pitt County Sherriff’s Department for over a decade. Joe was selflessly devoted to his family, friends and community through all the years of his life. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed many self-taught skills. His favorite past time was Archaeology and historical artifacts. He had a love for cooking, which was most enjoyed spent with his friends.
Our Joe will be missed deeply. He was Hubby, Dad, Poppy, Uncle, Brother, and friend. Our hearts are broken. We will live our lives to honor his life and memory forever.

Visitation will be held Sunday, April 14, 2024 at the Farmville Funeral Home from 1:00 P.M. until 3:00 P.M. followed by a service at 3:00 P.M.
