Myrtle was a member of the Farmville First Christian Church for 76 years. She sang in the choir for 67 years, served as head of the Women’s Fellowship, served as a Deacon, taught Sunday school and Bible Study; about the only position she did not hold was minister! She worked at Belk’s for 18 years, volunteered at the local soup kitchen/food pantry, and for many years played her guitar and sang at area nursing homes and special events. Though known for her wonderful cooking skills, there were dishes she would not eat, such as squirrel stew, broccoli, and anything with shrimp. Over the years she encouraged and helped others in her community; she possessed tremendous faith in the goodness of people. She was loved and admired and will be missed. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the First Christian Church, 3776 S. Main, Farmville NC 27828. The family sends special thanks to the admin and nursing staff of Greendale Forest in Snow Hill.
