Allen Mooring

Joseph Allen Mooring, 69, of Farmville NC, went to be with his Lord and Savior on April 9, 2023. He was born on October 9, 1953 in Farmville NC. Allen was preceded in death by his parents CJ and Rosa Mooring and son Darrell Ray Mooring.

Allen graduated from Farmville High school in 1971. While in high school, he enjoyed playing baseball, prior to facing an injury. He was an apprentice under Dink Little and learned the trade of automotive body work. After graduation he continued to work for Little’s Body Shop in Farmville until moving to Richmond VA.  Allen gained experience while working at Livesay’s Body shop, Richmond VA, Bland and Newsome Greenville NC and Carolina Collision Greenville NC. He loved his hometown of Farmville and was proud to open Allen’s Body Worx in 2004 to serve his community. Allen was proud of his work and deeply cared about his customers. His shop was always open to friends to stop by and be entertained by his storytelling and humor.

As an avid outdoorsman, Allen could be found in a deer stand, in a boat, or on a creek bank fishing. He loved to hunt deer, duck, turkey, and even wild hog. He learned his hunting skills from his Pa and uncles at an early age, such as how to build rabbit boxes and use line trapping. Allen also adored his own pets, like Ghost, his favorite rooster who woke him up each morning, and his dog Jack, his faithful companion. On Sunday afternoons, you could often find him watching NFL or NASCAR racing in support of Dale Earnhardt.

His experiences as a young boy inspired him to spend tireless hours on renovating his pre-Civil War home. Allen enjoyed spending time on his Farmall tractor, planting his garden and tending his fruit trees.

Allen was a kind hearted soul who cared deeply, often times putting others before himself. Family was important to Allen; he adored his two sons and two nephews, and was later blessed with four beautiful granddaughters.

Left to cherish his memory, are his son Robbie Mooring and wife Debbie (Ayden, NC), his granddaughters Mackenzie and Whitney, his daughter-in-law Jackie Mooring, and granddaughters Paige and Hadley (Bradenton, FL), his sister Anna Weaver and husband Mike (Morehead City, NC), his brother Jim Mooring and wife Nancy (Clinton, AK), his nieces and nephews Justin Letchworth and wife Caroline (Orlando, FL), Mark Letchworth (Wilmington, NC), Renee Langley, Lorie Mooring, and Sage Mooring. He was adored by his great nieces and nephew Dash, Poppy, and Daisy, and his bonus granddaughter Charlotte Rae Parnin.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 12th, from 6:00PM-8:00PM at the Farmville Funeral Home, followed by a celebration of life on Thursday, April 13th, at 2:00PM at the Farmville Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be at the Allen Family Cemetery, Farmville NC.
