Amelia Gail Ross, DNP, passed away May 22, 2026, surrounded by the love of family and friends. Amelia dedicated her life to caring for others through an extraordinary nursing career that spanned five decades and touched countless lives. Born May 4, 1957, Amelia was the daughter of late Kenneth and Marilyn Ross.
A graduate of Farmville Central High School, Class of 1975, Amelia began her nursing education at Pitt County Community College, earning her Associates Degree in Nursing (ADN) in 1975. She furthered her education at East Carolina University, earning her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) in 1988, her Master’s Degree in Nursing (MSN) in 1997, and her Doctorate in Nursing Practice (DNP) in 2015.
Amelia was certified as a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Adult and Critical Care. Her distinguished career included work in neonatal intensive care (NICU), home health, critical care, and academia. She authored and co-authored numerous professional articles that contributed to nursing knowledge and positively impacted patient care. Amelia was admired and respected by colleagues, students, and patients for her dedication, compassion, and unwavering commitment to nursing excellence.
Amelia valued her faith and church family and maintained a lifelong connection to Farmville First Christian Church. Her faith was reflected in the compassion and care she showed others.
She loved cooking, sewing, and traveling. Holidays were special for Amelia, especially Christmas. She treasured the time she lived in Wilmington, NC and enjoyed driving her old Jeep on the beach at Ft. Fisher. Her warmth, intelligence, sense of humor, and adventurous spirit brought joy to those who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her brother Ken Ross; nephews Jamin Ross and Patrick Ross; cousins Deborah Lilley, Becky Alexander, Stephen Gorham and Jay Taylor; many dear friends and extended family members.

Family and friends are invited to gather in celebration of Amelia’s life at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, June 7, 2026 at Farmville First Christian Church (3776 S. Main Street, Farmville, NC)
