Anne Whittelsey Morgan McGaughey, 85, of Farmville, NC, passed away Wednesday, November 16, 2022.

Anne was born on September 25, 1937, in Wilson, NC, to the late Margaret and Irvin Morgan, Jr. She attended Duke University, where she met her late husband, Robert Trusell McGaughey. They were married for 58 years.

Anne lived a life of dedication to her family, friends, and her community. She served her community in many ways by being a Girl Scout Leader, serving on the Pitt County School Board, Pitt Community College Board of Trustees, and many other organizations. She was recognized as Farmville Citizen of the Year. In her early professional career, she was the Executive Director of the Farmville Economic Development Council and was elected as the first female president of N.C. Industrial Developers Association (NCIDA), later retiring from Dimon International, Inc. Anne was a lifetime member of the Farmville United Methodist Church, where she graciously served in many leadership roles. 

She is survived by her sister Hadley Morgan Hines; her daughter, Margaret Wells (John); her daughter Kirkie McGaughey; and three granddaughters, Maggie, Molly, and Meghan Williams.

The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 3 p.m. on Saturday, November 19, 2022, at Farmville United Methodist Church, Farmville, North Carolina, with the Rev. Kuda Kagura officiating. A private family interment will follow later. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to Farmville Fire Department, P.O.
