Arleta Wainwright Relyea

Walstonburg..................................Arleta Wainwright Relyea, age 88, passed away at her home on June 30, 2020. Graveside service will be held on Friday, July 3, at 2:00 P.M. at the Walstonburg Cemetery by Rev. Tony Glass. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the graveside. Mrs. Relyea was born on April 14, 1932 to Jack and Ruth Turner Wainwright. She was married to Bruce Gay of 14 years until his death in 1965 and together raised two children. She was blessed to enjoy the last 47 years of her life with her husband, Jack Relyea. In addition to her parents and her husband, Bruce, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Joe and Bill. Arleta was a supervisor for the Department of Social Services as well as a loving mother, wife, and homemaker. She was a member of Howell Swamp Original Free Will Baptist Church, the Howell Swamp Original Free Will Baptist Church Woman's Auxiliary, and also taught Sunday School. She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Jack Relyea of the home; children, Rick Gay (Randi) and Polly McKenzie (Carl) all of Raleigh; step-children, Johnny Relyea (Natalie) of Walstonburg and Pat Page (Glenn) of Greenville; sisters, Amy Hunt and Mildred Hardee, both of Farmville; brothers, Freddie Wainwright (Phyllis) of Farmville and Jack Wainwright Jr. (Helen) of Kinston. Arleta was the proud Nana of 3 grandchildren, Jason, Lori, Scott, 2 and 3 step-grandchildren, Josh (Beth), Jeremy, Justin, as well as great-grandchildren, Anna, Jeffrey, Maddie, and Jackson.
