Betty Harris Obituary

Farmville…………………………Betty Evans Harris, age 87, got her wings on Saturday, December 19, 2020, and flew into the arms of her sweet Jesus.

Things I would like for people to know about my mom:

My mom, known to most as Sis, is the most compassionate person I know. She loves God, her family and really all people. She never meets a stranger. She is like a people magnet. Spend a few minutes with her and she will know your story, give a little advice and LOTS of encouragement. She will never let you leave her presence without letting you know how great God is, and wow, does she have some great God stories. She has endured more pain than most know about, but she doesn’t let that get her down or destroy her faith. She always knows that joy comes in the morning and the new day will bring comfort of its own. She is a true servant of God.

Many times she says to me “that just warms my heart” when speaking of family moments like weddings, graduations, births and personal accomplishments.

She has never met a broom that she didn’t like. Lord I hope there is little corner somewhere in Heaven that she can sweep to her hearts content. Freedom to sweep without pain, without falling and without her trustworthy cane.

Mom, as your daughter, I want to say “THANK YOU” for being the best role model, teacher, advisor, encourager, prayer partner, listener and my best friend. You have always showed me what faith looks like regardless of the situation and the meaning of never giving up. You are a warrior and the strongest person I know. You have influenced so many people in a positive way. No one as far as I am concerned can ever fill your shoes. I know that you will have many crowns to lay at the feet of Jesus and he’ll say well done my faithful servant. I can’t thank God enough for bringing us together as Mother and Daughter. I’m the person I am today because of you. I can’t begin to imagine life without you in it. You encouraged me when you couldn’t find it for yourself. I pray my life can reflect God as yours has and I hope that I have made you proud of me as much as I am PROUD of you. I love you with all my heart!!!

Your Loving daughter, Charlotte

Her motto: Always be ready to speak comfort in hard times and give an encouraging word.

She leaves behind wonderful memories for those she loved, including a daughter, Charlotte Crawford and husband, John; granddaughters, Hannah and Hunter Crawford; brother, Bobby Evans and wife, Faye; sisters-in-law, Betsy Evans and Margaret Wilkes. Many nieces and nephews brought unspeakable joy to her life. No words can tell how much she will be missed but she has another family waiting for her in Heaven. Mother, father, husband, brothers, in-laws, and nephews are there to welcome her.

A private service will be held.
