Farmville……………………….Brenda Ann Elks, age 62, died Monday, April 24, 2023.

                                                Memorial service will be held Thursday, April 27, at 3:00 P.M. at the Farmville Train Depot by Dr. Rick Bailey.  The family will receive friends following the service at the Depot.

                                                Brenda will lie in state Wednesday, April 26, from 12:00 P.M. until 5:00 P.M. at the Farmville Funeral Home.

                                                She was in her second term as Town Commissioner, former head of the Relay for Life, Christmas Parade, and Hometown Halloween.  In 2012 she was recognized as the Citizen of the Year and in 2022 she was the Boy Scouts of America Distinguished Person of the Year. She loved every child in Farmville and the people of Farmville.

                                                She is survived by her mother Gloria Elks of the home; sister, Wanda Owens and husband, Dennis of Snow Hill; brother, Mike Elks and wife, Amy of Nashville; nephew, Clay Owens; step nieces, Scottie Joyce and Katie Strong; step nephew, Jesse Strong; and her beloved pet, Leia.
