Fountain………………………………………….Dalton Earl Smith, age 75, went to his heavenly home, Thursday, August 17, 2023.
Funeral service will be conducted Sunday, August 20, at 2:00 P.M. at the Farmville Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Glenn Tripp and Bill Doane. Interment will follow in Queen Anne Cemetery in Fountain.
The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 6:00 P.M, until 7:30 P.M. at the Farmville Funeral Home and other times they will be at the home.
Dalton was a lifetime member of Aspen Grove OFWB Church. He was the Sunday School Superintendent and Deacon for many years. He loved music and sang for many revivals and church services. Dalton was an outdoorsman who loved to hunt, fish, and golf with his family. He was an avid softball player and loved the Braves. He also served in the Army Reserves for many years. He adored his grandchildren and loved to attend their church and sporting events until his health declined. Dalton had a servant’s heart and loved to be around people. He will be missed!
He was preceded in death by his parents, Zell and Nolia Mae Smith; father and mother-in-law, Leonard and Beatrice Owens; brother-in-law, Rev. Alan Joyner; and great nephew, Cameron Thomas Hayes.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley O. Smith of the home; daughter, Renee Wall and husband, Bob of Bethel; sons, Jeff Smith and wife, Joy of Jamesville and Tim Smith and wife, Melissa of Chesterfield, VA; grandchildren, Kylie and Easton Smith, Emma and Luke Wall, Austin, Beckett and Campbell Smith; sister, Janet Joyner of Fountain; brother, John Smith and wife, Sue of Plymouth; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Skip and Dot Walston of Wilson; special nieces and nephews; friends and family.
