Farmville………………………………….David Octavious Gay, age 75, died Tuesday, November 21, 2023.
Memorial service with military honors will be held Wednesday, November 29, at 11:00 A.M. at the Farmville Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Ron Carnigan. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home.
Mr. Gay was a veteran of the Vietnam War having served in the United
States Army and was former commander of the Farmville American Legion Post 151. He was known as the Holiday King for his yard decorations.
He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Teresa Shackelford Gay of the home; sons, Jacob Taylor Gay of Farmville, Jeremy Gay and wife, Amanda of Washington, and Chase Thompson and wife, Sammy Jo of Greenville; granddaughter, Joy Gay; sister, Marie Strickland of Winterville; brother, Ronnie Gay of Waynesburg, PA; sister-in-law, Vivian Blalock; brother-in-law, Tommy Shackelford; special aunts, Edith Holloman, Shirley Jones, Edith Skinner, Inez Beaman, and Eunice Crawford; and his special four legged son, Ace Gay.
The family extends thanks to 3HC Hospice and a special thanks to all of their neighbors who were always there to help.
