David Ray Whitley, 64, of Winterville, won his victory and entered his enteral presence with our heavenly Father surrounded by his loving wife and children.
David loved and treasured God's promises. He was passionate about inspiring others and sharing God's word. He was an active member of the Goldsboro Worship Center.
David was raised in Farmville and graduated from Farmville Central High School. Along with his father and brother, he owned and operated CARQUEST for generations. In 1999, David began his career with the Pitt County Sheriff's Department, beginning as a telecommunicator and retiring as a Master Detective in 2023.
David loved drag racing and spent many Saturdays with his family at the dragstrip. He treasured his 1969 Chevrolet Nova.
David loved his family and treasured all his grandchildren. He was often found telling anyone and everyone how old all 14 grandchildren were and never skipped a beat or left anyone out.
David was preceded in death by his parents, Bob & Ruby Whitley, and his loving son Daniel.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 30 years, Annette Brown Whitley; children Amanda Joyner (Keith) of Farmville, Jessica Berry (Hank) of Scranton, Jonathan Whitley (Trisha) of Greenville James Whitley (Amber) of Washington, and Tiffany Bartlett (Eric) of Goldsboro. Grandchildren Haley, Alton, Bo, Nolan, Nathan, Jacob, Wesley, Alex, Zoey, Hydie, Harper, Samuel, Ellie, and Judah. Brother Tommy Whitley of Farmville and his furry companions Little Bit and Benson.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, January 4, at 2:00 P.M. at the Farmville Funeral Home by Rev. Danny Johnson. Interment will follow in Crestlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
Daddy, you taught us to love unconditionally and care for each other. We will take it from here!
