Donald Owens Obituary

Donald Owens, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on March 9, 2024, at the age of 79 in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Graveside service will be held on Saturday, March 23, 2024, at 11:00 A.M. at Walstonburg Cemetery in Walstonburg, North Carolina by Dr. Rick Bailey. The family will receive friends at the gravesite following the service.

Growing up in Eastern North Carolina, Donald attended school in Walstonburg until Greene County consolidated in his senior year. He went on to further his studies at Atlantic Christian College in Wilson, N.C. graduating with a degree in accounting in three academic years. He served his country as a member of the National Guard as an armor crewman. He eventually found his calling and dedicated many years to LB Smith Inc., where he made lasting connections and contributions to the company ultimately leading to his position of Vice President. He resided at Lake Norman, NC where he enjoyed boating and spending time on the lake with family and friends. After his retirement he moved to South Charlotte with his wife Renee and took pleasure in remodeling their home and caring for their yard. His passions included fishing, UNC basketball and a lifelong love of the beach.

Donald was preceded in death by his loving parents Gordon and Kathleen Owens and dear first wife and mother of his three children Linda Norris Owens.

Donald is survived by his wife Renee Owens, adored spouse of 20 years. He was the devoted father of three children: Donald Jr (spouse Melissa), Michael (spouse Dee), and Christy (spouse Scott) and was a proud grandfather to seven grandchildren.

Donald will be remembered for his unwavering loyalty and dedication to his family and friends. He leaves behind a legacy of love and compassion that will continue to inspire all who knew him.
