Doris Cobb Horton, 91, beloved wife, mother, sister, and aunt, departed this life on February 11, 2026, to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
She was preceded in death by her devoted husband, John Wesley Horton; her beloved son, Gary Bradford Horton; her parents, Silas Everette and Ida Owens Cobb; and her eight siblings: Lillie Mae Phillips, Everett Cobb, Mary Elizabeth, Silas Jr., Agnes Stokes, Randolph Cobb, Aldine Hedgepeth, and Edna Horton. She is survived by twenty-one nieces and nephews of the Cobb and Horton families.
The family would like to express their gratitude to Carolyn Ward for the exceptional care she and her team provided Doris. Special thanks also goes to Darlene Staton who has served as a dedicated caregiver for Doris for more than a year. The family will be forever grateful for Carolyn and Darlene’s devotion and compassion toward our aunt. Aunt Doris’s watchful neighbors, Lily Gorham and Susie and Glenn Waters have long supplied assistance and friendship to Aunt Doris. The family thanks them for faithfully supporting her. The family is also appreciative to the Service League of Greenville Hospice team for their compassionate service.
Doris was a member of Dilda’s Grove Free Will Baptist Church.
A visitation will be held on February 16, 2026, at 1pm at Farmville Funeral Home. A memorial service will follow at 2:00 pm in the chapel with the internment at Crestlawn Memorial Gardens.
