Eleanor Lovitt Obituary

Eleanor Ruth Lovitt, born on June 12, 1936, went to her heavenly home Wednesday, October 8, 2025. Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 11 at 2:00 P.M. by Rev. John Hill at Farmville Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Crestlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Ruth grew up in Greene County, 2nd in line of seven children.  As a young woman she knew how to work hard and try your best, because that was what was expected.  This served her well in her life as she raised her family also with these values.

Ruth’s great faith in God brought her through all.  She loved to sew and she used that talent in many ways to help others. She was a member of Friendship OFWB Church where she was a Sunday school teacher for 40 year and served on the women’s auxiliary. Her children, grandchildren and family were very important to her.

Ruth is survived by her children, Eleanor Louise Lovitt of Farmville, Donald Ray Lovitt (wife Pearl) of Mount Pleasant, SC, Ronald Earl Lovitt (wife Libby) of Wilson, Judy L Moore (husband Gentry) of Farmville, Debra L. LaGant (Dana) of Garner; grandchildren, Chris Lovitt (wife Danielle) of Garner, Keri Lovitt of Charleston, SC, Cecil Moore of Farmville, Cameron Lovitt of Clayton; Lara Millard (husband Andrew) of Charleston, SC, Christopher LaGant (wife Carrie) of Wendell; great grandchildren, Grayson Lovitt of Garner, Cameron Rose Lovitt of Garner, Luke LaGant of Wendell, Ben LaGant of Wendell, Max Millard of Charleston, SC,; brother, David Moore (wife Paulette) of Farmville; sisters in law, Hilda Nichols and Judy Faye Moore both of Farmville, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Earl Lovitt, parents, George Washington Moore Sr. and Mary Mozingo Moore, brothers, Roy, Gene and George Jr. and her sisters, Mary Braxton and Christine Wells and son in law, Mark LaGant.

The family would like to thank Pruitt Hospice for the care, love and support they gave Ruth and her family.
