Evelyn Louise (Greene) Arndt

Farmville…………Evelyn Louise Greene Arndt, 88, of Farmville, NC, passed away peacefully on June 4, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. Born October 22, 1937, she was a vibrant soul known for her deep love of scripture, passion for hosting holiday gatherings, and the immense joy she found in her family.

Evelyn was the only daughter of Stokes and Leona Greene and grew up in Churchland, NC. She had an inquisitive and courageous spirit, always eager to ask the tough questions many others were too intimidated to voice. Her favorite pastimes were tending to her garden, cooking, painting, and sharing endless laughter with her children.

She leaves behind a beautiful legacy and is survived by her children, Jeff Owen, Stacy Hobbs, and Kristi Benfield (Dwayne); and three cherished grandchildren, Mackenzie Ripper, Easton Ripper (Becca), and Carson Hobbs.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, Stokes and Leona Greene; her brothers, Edward, James (Jim), Vernon, and Gordon Greene; and her late husbands, William (Bill) Hurdle, Harold Owen, and Leonard “Flash” Arndt.

A Celebration of Life memorial service will take place at 3:00 PM on Sunday, June 14, 2026, in the chapel at the Farmville Methodist Church. Evelyn’s favorite color was blue, and the family would love to see a sea of it at the service to help celebrate her beautiful spirit. Following the service, the family invites everyone to join them in the fellowship hall. A private burial at Evelyn’s family cemetery in Churchland will take place at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to Farmville Methodist Church in her memory.
