Winterville…………………...Gordon Lee Prescott, 80, of Winterville, NC passed away on October 12, 2023 after a battle with non-Hodgkins lymphoma.
Gordon was born to Clarence Poe and Fannie Lee (Hill) Prescott on June 7, 1943 in Snow Hill, NC. After graduating from Farmville High School in 1961, he served in the US Army until 1963 including being a member of the 82nd Airborne Division. After his discharge, he began a 56-year career as a machinist including time with Union Carbide, Burroughs Wellcome/DSM/Catalytica, and Metrics until his retirement in 2021. For 29 years, he also served as a member and in leadership roles with the Winterville Volunteer Fire Department.
Gordon enjoyed road trips, roller coasters, spending time with his family both near and far, do-it-yourself projects, and was an avid NASCAR fan.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Anita Prescott and his children, Jonathan (Debbie) Prescott of Clermont, FL and Jerald (Carolyn Reed) Prescott of Kannapolis, NC; 3 grandchildren, Chloe, Allison and Matthew; his sister, Geraldine Prescott Moore of Carthage, NC; brother, Ray (Betty) Prescott of Farmville, NC; brother, Gene Prescott of Greenville, NC; sister-and brother-in-law, Monty and Bill Briley of Kernersville, NC; and many nephews and nieces.
A private graveside service will be conducted by Rev. Gerald Bullock at Hollywood Cemetery in Farmville.
