Greenville………………………………Sonja “Hope Strickland” Jones, age 60, passed away Tuesday, April 15, 2025.
A funeral service will be held Friday, April 18 at 1:00 P.M. at the Farmville Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor Jeff Smith. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 12:00 P.M. until 1:00 P.M.
Hope was a 1982 graduate of Farmville Central High School. She graduated from Pitt Community College with 3 Associates Degrees in Human Services Technology Addiction and Recovery Studies, Early Childhood Education, and Teacher Preparation.
She is survived by her daughters, Jessica Pollard Avery (Tim) of Grifton, Tayler Pollard of Greenville, and Cristina Anderson of Goldsboro; bonus daughters, Ashley King and Ashley Wells; bonus son, Matt McDevitt; brother, Eddie Carl Strickland II (Cindy); grandchildren, Brantlee Avery, Kolby Avery, Phoebe Greene, Damon Greene, Elijah Mondragon, Kylie Johnson, Kam’ron Johnson, Khloe Johnson, Juliyanne Beaman, Hailey Teel, Kaidynce McDevitt, Addilyn McDevitt, Laila McDevitt, and Matt McDevitt Jr.; and life-partner of 18 years, David King.
