Jackson Viggo Krarup

Jackson Viggo Krarup passed away peacefully at home on the morning of Sunday May 4th.  He was holding both of his parents’ hands.  Throughout Jackson’s two-year battle with cancer, he remained loving and bright.  He was truly a perfect child every moment of his five years here.

Jackson was born on February 6th 2020 in Tampa, Florida to parents Jan Nicholas and Haven Peaden Krarup.  He was an intuitive and loving child – always sensing the emotions of others, acting with empathy and understanding beyond his years.  His bright eyes communicated a remarkable depth of love and connection.  He loved building and creating, touting to one day become a Builder like his daddy.  He planned to drive a crane truck and have a dog named Marshal.  Jackson loved his seven year old sister Taylor more than anyone and would not hesitate to tell you this.  They shared a bond that was truly unreal.

Even after his diagnosis with acute myeloid leukemia in July of 2023, Jackson maintained his steady smiling and positive nature.  Over the last two years, Jackson navigated treatment gracefully with his family always at his side.  All who had the pleasure to meet Jackson were blessed by his countenance and disposition. 

Jackson’s memory will forever be cherished by those he leaves behind – his parents Nick and Haven, his sister Taylor Marie, his dog Jake, his living grandparents, his godparents, and many loved aunts, uncles, and cousins.  Jackson is preceded in death by both his paternal and maternal grandmothers – Mari Ines Moraes Krarup and Allison Turnage.  Jackson is also preceded in death by Nick’s grandmother Karen Lise Wright Gallac “Granny” who was especially precious to Nick as she helped raise him from a young age.  We are comforted to know these ladies and other beloved family received him with open arms when he reached them in Heaven.

A visitation will be held Friday, May 9 from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 2718 Overbrook Dr, Raleigh, NC 27608. A funeral mass will be held on Saturday May 10, at 12:00 P.M. at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.

In memory of Jackson Viggo, an endowment is being established with a mission to improve living environments for children and their families faced with critical illness that requires longterm hospitalization.  In lieu of flowers, please consider memorials made to ViggoNest.  Donations can be made at theviggoproject.org.  Fallon's Florist will be handling local floral arrangements. Jackson’s legacy will be to ease the journey for others that he himself bore with such grace.  He will forever be missed -- our angel on earth, called home early.
