Stantonsburg……………………...James Daniel Denton, age 91, died Sunday December 21, 2025.

A graveside service will be held Saturday, December 27, at 1:00 P.M. by Rev. Randy Smith at the Darden Cemetery, 465 Sand Pit Road, Stantonsburg, NC 27883. The family will receive friends following the service at the cemetery.

Mr. Denton met his Lord and Savior on February 16, 1975, and he and his wife Ann have spent the last 50 years serving the Lord to the best of their ability. Mr. Denton was lifelong trapper. He was preceded in death by his parents, Luther Paul Denton and Hattie Leora White Denton; several siblings, a grandson, and several nieces and nephews.

He is survived by his wife, Ann Denton; step-sons, Mike Ellis and wife, Joan, Danny Ellis, and Kenneth Ellis; Billy Joe who he helped raise like a son; sisters, Esther Olean Poythress, and Ruby Denton Smith; sister-in-law, Joann Denton; step-granddaughter, Ashley Ellis; step-great granddaughter, Jordan Ellis; and other grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
