Farmville……………………………James “Jim” Allen Hobgood, age 95, died August 20, 2022 at the North Carolina State Veterans Home in Kinston, NC. A graveside service will be held Tuesday, August 23, at 10:30 A.M at the Forest Hills Cemetery by Mrs. Nancy Cale.
Mr. Hobgood was a member of Marlboro Original Free Will Baptist Church for 74 years, served as a deacon for 46 years, was a choir member as well as treasurer. He was a veteran of WWII where he served in the US Army. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jean Baldree Hobgood; parents, Sammi and Annie Hobgood; brothers, William Robert Hobgood, Sam Hobgood; sister, Janet Fussell; and grandson, Allen Crabtree.
He is survived by two daughters, Brenda Crabtree (Arthur) of Raleigh, and Amy Joyner (David) of Greenville; three grandchildren, Melissa Albertson (Robert) of Wendell, Jessica Heath (Joshua) of Greenville, Jameson Joyner of Farmville; ten great-grandchildren; Elizabeth, Emily and Ethan Albertson, Tyson, Harleigh and Nathan Crabtree, Kaiden Kain, Molly Joyner; and Pippa and Nova Heath.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the cemetery.
A special thanks to the NC Veterans Home- Kinston Staff for taking great care of him in his final years, especially Delta Unit.
