Falkland……………James “JP” Percy Stancil Jr., age 68, passed away Sunday, March 8, 2026.
Funeral service will be held Saturday, March 14, at 2:00 PM at the Farmville Funeral Home, officiated by Mike Hamill. Interment will follow in Queen Anne Cemetery in Fountain. The family will receive friends Friday evening at Farmville Funeral Home from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
JP was retired from the Pitt County Sheriff’s Office where he was a sworn deputy and Co-Captain of the swift water rescue team. He was the former Assistant Chief of Falkland Fire Department as well as former Mayor of Falkland. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the friendships within the Pitt County Sheriff’s Office, the Falkland Fire Department, and the Haunted House, that he was blessed with.
JP was preceded in death by his parents, James Percy Stancil, and Virginia Baker Stancil; wife, Melissa Stancil; and brother, Gene Tripp.
He is survived by daughters, Jenny Stancil and fiancé, Coltrane Stokes, Lana Lynn Stancil, Macey Leigh Sabo and husband, Taylor, Tracey Lynn Briley; Sons, Tyler Scott and James Percy Stancil III and wife, Maria; chosen brothers, Robert Wright, Mark Caroll, Bubba Harrell, Doc, Bennie Dobbs, and Mike Hamill; nine grandchildren and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
