James "Jim" Hines Hardy Jr.

James Hines Hardy, Jr, affectionately known as Jim or Jimmy age 74 died peacefully on the morning of January 28, 2022.   He lived in the Maury community all his life.  

Jim was Assistant Fire Chief at the Maury Volunteer Fire Department for 34 years and on the Board of Directors for 39 years.  He was a member of Brooks Frizzelle Memorial UMC.  Jim was employed for 24 years as a Building Inspector for Pitt County.  

He is survived by his wife, Pam, for 54 years.  Children Kimberly Smith (Tim) of Raleigh, NC and Jimmy Hardy (Susan) of Apex and grandchildren Skylar, AJ, Elise and Amber.  He is also survived by his brother Leonard Hardy.  He was preceded in death by his parents James and Ruth Hardy.   He will be greatly missed by Bubba and Bailey.  

Graveside service will be Tuesday, Feb. 1 at 2pm at the Maury Cemetery, Maury, NC.  Visitation after service or at the home other times.
