Jayme Barker Fountain passed away peacefully on July 3, 2025.
He is survived by his daughter Meghan Ruth Fountain, brother Christopher McNeill Fountain (Gloria) and sister Valerie Fountain Yoffe (Mark).
He was predeceased by his mother DotDee Jones Slaughter and father James Barker Fountain.
Jayme possessed an extraordinary gift for connection, effortlessly turning strangers into friends with his open spirit. He was cherished for his distinctive wit and a sense of humor that illuminated every room he entered. A man of profound intellectual curiosity and a lifelong learner, he reveled in spirited and insightful discussions, eagerly exploring the depths of history, politics, music, and sports. His passion for sports was undeniable, and his unwavering loyalty to the NCSU Wolfpack and the legendary NY Yankees was a testament to his fervent spirit; he rarely missed a moment to passionately cheer on his beloved teams.
He will be deeply missed by his daughter, brother, sister and those who had the privilege of being his friend.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Surgical Trauma Intensive Care Unit at Wake Medical Center for their extraordinary care and attention to Jayme.
A memorial service will be held at Farmville Funeral Home on Wednesday July 9, at 5pm. The family will receive friends prior to the service at 4:30pm.
