Jerry G. Little, age 80, of Falkland, NC passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 2, 2022, at his home with his family by his side.
Jerry was born December 6, 1941, to the late Gus and Bettie Mae Little. He was a 1960 graduate of Belvoir-Falkland High School. An extremely gifted athlete during high school prompted him to continue playing baseball and basketball as a young adult. Shortly after graduation, he married his high school sweetheart, Linda Smith, and became a successful tobacco farmer. This chosen profession allowed him to enjoy many hunting trips all over the country and Canada, something he loved for many years. Upon retiring, Jerry became an avid golfer, traveling to courses all over the state, winning many tournaments with his beloved golf buddies, especially Gerald Abrams, his best friend of more than 40 years.
Jerry was a kind-hearted person who loved his friends and family. He was known to many as “Red” because of his strawberry blonde hair, but his favorite name of all was “Undeddy” This name was given to him by his only grandchild, Marlee Grace, and he loved her beyond measure. She was the apple of his eye and he made sure everyone knew it, too. His favorite hobbies were golfing, bream fishing with his son, Chris, and watching Marlee play basketball for the Trinity Tigers.
Jerry committed his life to the Lord in 2005 and started attending the Church of God in Falkland. He was a faithful member and attended every service until his health started declining in 2020. He battled many illnesses including cancer and never gave up. His faith grew stronger as his body weakened but he never stopped praying. His family has comfort knowing he is finally healed.
Survivors include his beloved wife of more than 60 years, Linda, son Chris and wife Ginger, granddaughter Marlee, sister, Patricia Dail, all of Falkland, and several nieces and nephews. Graveside service will be held Saturday, November 5, 2022, at 1:00PM at the Falkland Presbyterian Church Cemetery. Those desiring to pay their respects may do so at the Farmville Funeral Home, Friday from 2:00 P.M. until 5:00 P.M. and Saturday from 8:30 A.m. until 11:30 A.M.
