Jo Ann Carraway

Ms. Jo Ann Carraway, born on May 11, 1955, in Wilson, North Carolina, passed away on December 2, 2025, in Greenville, North Carolina. She was 70 years old.

Jo Ann was the daughter of the late Delwood Sapiro Carraway and Pearl Varnell Carraway. She was born in Wilson and graduated from West Edgecombe High School in Rocky Mount. She earned an associate's degree in business from Wilson Community College and a bachelor's degree in geology from East Carolina University.

Family was central to Jo Ann’s heart. She is lovingly remembered by her sister Millicent Carraway Holloman; nephews Michael Carraway, Russell Holloman, and Aubrey Gilleran; nieces Olivia Holloman Palakovich and Sherri Carraway Clayborne; sister-in-law Joan Carraway Sutton; brother-in-law Brown Holloman; and numerous great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins. Her presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Delwood Sapiro Carraway and Pearl Varnell Carraway, brother Fred Louis Carraway, and niece Dee Ann Carraway. A private service will be held at a later date.
