Farmville…………………………………Joann Holloman Rock was born October 5, 1925 in Greene Co., NC and transitioned on April 15, 2025 peacefully at home. She was so proud to tell you that she never missed a day of school. After completion of school, she moved to Norfolk where she met her husband, Kelly Porter Rock who she was married to for 47 years. During that time she went back to school to become an RM and as employed at Norfolk General Hospital Intensive Care Unit.
Joann was a faithful Jehovah’s Witness for 75 years. Her belief in “no more sickness and no more death in the new world.” (resurrection)
She was preceded in death by her parents, Addie Galloway Holloman and James Albert Holloman; and her husband, Kelly Porter Rock. She was the last of her generation of 13 brothers and sisters. She is survived by her children, James Hocutt (Barbara) of Blackstone, VA, Joanie Hannon (Jimmy) of Farmville, Kellie Strickland (Sonny) of Suffolk, VA; five grandchildren, Sidney (Penny), Sherri (Randy), Jamie (Kevin), Jodie (Mark), Brittney (Austin); six great-grandchildren; nine great-great grandchildren; and nine great-great great grandchildren.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to Gentiva Hospice, a very special friend and caregiver Barbara Gorham, The Farmville Congregation, and Farmville Funeral Home.
The memorial service will be held May 17, 2025 at 11:00 A.M. at the Kingdom Hall, 2822 Wesley Church Road, Farmville, NC 27828.
