Nancy Ora (Wilkinson) Bradham

Farmville………….Nancy Wilkinson Bradham, age 76, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on August 29, 2024. Nancy was born on October 27, 1947, in Pitt County to Doris Carr and John Moseley Wilkinson. She was a lifelong resident of Farmville, NC. Nancy graduated from Farmville High School and attended Atlantic Christian College.

In 1968, Nancy married Frank Bradham, and they made their home in Farmville, NC. She worked in various roles in banking and served for several years as a substitute teacher in the school system. Nancy loved working with and supporting children. She felt strongly about her community and faith, and was a lifelong member of the First Christian Church in Farmville. She was a faithful servant, serving as deacon, CWF Circle Leader, Memorials Committee Chair, and in various other roles within her church family. Nancy was a founding member of the Pansy Canvas Garden Club and, later, a member of the Home and Lawn Garden Club, where she served as treasurer. She also served on the Farmville Child Development Center Board of Directors. Nancy was a member of the Major Benjamin May Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, serving for many years as treasurer. She played in various bridge clubs and enjoyed a good card game, especially with her sister Doris, to whom she was very close.

The role she cherished most was that of homemaker and mother to her two children, Suzanne and Walker. She never missed an event in her children’s lives and instilled in them the importance of kindness, respect for others, and determination. Upon the birth of her first grandchild, Mary Wesley, she graciously agreed to care for her granddaughter and later did the same when her second granddaughter, Madeline, arrived. She loved caring for “her girls” as babies and later never missed a dance recital, tennis match, or school event, including Mary Wesley’s college graduation in May 2024 and Madeline’s high school graduation in June 2024. Her grandson, Moseley, was the apple of her eye; she read him countless books and swam with him at the beach as often as possible. Her quiet strength, determination, and devotion to family were an inspiration to us all.

Nancy inherited a passion for gardening from her parents and took great pride in her yard and home. She loved spending time working outside and could make anything grow. She also loved the water, spending many days on the beach with family and friends, swimming in the ocean, and strolling along the shore.

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, Doris and John Wilkinson. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Franklin Lanier Bradham, of the home; daughter Suzanne Jones and her husband Scott of Farmville; granddaughters, Mary Wesley Craft of Raleigh and Madeline Craft of Farmville; son Walker Bradham and his partner Margret, and grandson Moseley of Raleigh; sister, Doris Briley and husband Johnnie of Farmville; and nephew John Briley and wife, Sarah of Winterville, along with other close friends, including lifelong friend Cordelia Deans of Morehead City, and several special nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service to honor Nancy’s life will include visitation at the First Christian Church of Farmville on Monday, September 2, from 6:00-8:00 P.M., and a funeral service at First Christian Church on Tuesday, September 3, at 11:00 A.M., officiated by Rev. Morgan Daughety.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Christian Church of Farmville or the V Foundation for Cancer Research.
