Walstonburg…………………………Preston Wayne Cox, age 65, passed away Thursday, April 28, 2022.
Graveside services will be held Tuesday, May 3 at 11:00 A.M. in the Hollywood Cemetery, North Davis Drive, Farmville, NC. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the graveside.
He was preceded in death by his son, (Lil Wayne) William Wayne Cox; father, Simon W. Cox; step-father, William Pridgen; and brother Jimmy L. Cox.
His memories will be cherished by those he leaves behind; his beloved wife, Janet Cox of the home; mother, Ann Cox Pridgen of Farmville; brothers, Simon Cox (Vicky) of Hookerton, Reggie Cox of Farmville; sisters, Sharon C. Hudson (Gary) of Grimesland, Sheila C. Daniels (Bobby) of Fountain, and LouAnne P. Baker (Darryl) of Farmville; several nieces and nephews; step-daughters, Susie Cummins of Virginia, Kathy Ingram of Greenville and 5 step-grandchildren.
Wayne was an avid outdoorsman that loved hunting and fishing. He loved his family, friends and co-workers. He was always sure to share a comical phrase or joke with you every visit or phone call to leave you with a chuckle. He was a man of few words with a big heart. He was a devoted husband, good father, loving son, special brother to his siblings and a special uncle to his nieces and nephews. He will be sorely missed by us all! His favorite words to those dear to his heart were “I love you more”.
He was retired from the City of Greenville with nearly 25 years of service as an equipment operator in the public works department.
