Macclesfield.............. Randolph Cobb peacefully entered his heavenly rest from his life-long home in Cobb Town on Friday, April 29, 2022 two days before his 97th birthday.

He is preceded in death by his wife of nearly 70 years, Fay Briley Cobb and their daughter, Pamela Fay Cobb.

Randolph is survived by his son, Randolph Cobb, Junior and wife, Kay; grandson, Randy Cobb, wife, Melissa; grandson, Allen Cobb; and great grandchildren, Randall, Kayla, and Caroline Cobb.

On May 1, 1925, Randolph was the sixth of the nine children born to Silas and Ida Owens Cobb.  Randolph, Private First Class in the US Army was stationed in France, Germany,  Belgium, and Switzerland during World War II and was awarded the Good Conduct Medal.

A conscientious and passionate farmer Randolph also enjoyed growing watermelons, clay peas, sweet corn, and potatoes in his garden.  He enjoyed fishing trips with family and deer hunting.  He had an enduring wit and humor that accompanied his love to grin and ability to get others to chuckle.  He will be remembered for his example and inspiration that a simple life is a happy one, providing for family is top priority, and that welcoming others is simply just the way to be.

The family will receive friends at Farmville Funeral Home, Monday evening, May 2, from 6:00 until 7:30 P.M.  A graveside service will be Tuesday, May 3, at 2:00 P.M. at the Cobb Family Cemetery officiated by Dr. Randy Cobb.

In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes memorial gifts in Randolph’s memory to the building fund of Dilda’s Grove FWB Church.
