Robert "Bob" Hewlett Obituary

Robert “Bob” Hewlett, a native of Arlington County, VA, was born on February 21, 1942, the son of the late Robert I. and Rachel Ocker Hewlett. Upon graduation from Washington-Lee High School, he attended IBM school. Bob then worked in the printing industry as an off-set printer for 40 years before retirement from Master-Print Printers in Alexandria, VA. After his retirement, he and his wife, Christine, moved to Greenville, NC. He ran his own lawn business and worked part-time for Farmer Funeral Services for many years during his retirement.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert I. and Rachel Hewlett and his beloved wife of 59 years, Christine B. Hewlett. He is survived by his daughter Linda Hewlett Sitton and husband Jonathan of Farmville, NC; a son, Bruce W. Hewlett and wife Melissa of Fredericksburg, VA; two grandsons, Turner W. Sitton and Kenley B. Sitton; one granddaughter, Cora G. Hewlett; and a sister, Donna Hewlett Setzer of Winchester; and several nieces and nephews. He was also very grateful for Krystal Daniels, caretaker for Christine and beloved friend.

Robert Bruce Hewlett, known as “Bob,” “Dad,” “Daddy,” “Poppa,” and “Uncle Bob”, was a kind soul who only wanted to see the best in people. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather that worked extremely hard in order to better his family’s life, not for his own benefit. His family meant everything to him. His sister, nephews, and nieces were a top priority for him as well, he always wanted them to be happy and healthy. Robert Bruce Hewlett went about life thinking about the welfare of others whom he put above himself. He loved to make people laugh and was always a steadfast shoulder to lean on. Bob loved to throw horseshoes, build flower boxes, and kept an immaculate lawn. He was also a quiet man whose gentle and kind heart touched many lives.

The family will receive friends at 3316 North Waverly Street in Farmville, NC on Friday, March 15 from 5-7 pm.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Ronald McDonald House of Greenville, NC.
