Susan Olivia Braxton Copeland, age 66, died Sunday, April 30, 2023, at ECU Health Medical Center in Greenville, NC after a lengthy illness. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 P.M. on Saturday, May 27, 2023 at Farmville Presbyterian Church, 4138 Grimmersburg Street, Farmville, NC. A memorial service will be conducted by the Rev. Rocky Stone at 2:00 P.M. immediately after visitation.
She was preceded in death by her parents; Alfred S. Braxton, Sr. and Shelby Glisson Braxton; a sister, Brenda Braxton, and her grandparents, Bernice and Mary Glisson.
She is survived by her husband of 45 years, James “Ronnie” Copeland of Bell Arthur, and three daughters, Elaine Carol Copeland of Greenville; Wendy Sue Copeland of Butner, NC; and Michelle Copeland Tripp and husband, Tommy, of Ernul, NC.
She is also survived by her brother, Alfred S. Braxton, Jr. and wife Julie of Tarboro, aunt Sandra Heath, and her favorite uncle, B.B. Glisson and wife Cathy, of Washington, NC.
Mrs. Copeland, a lifelong resident of Pitt County, most recently of Bell Arthur community, attended Farmville Presbyterian Church. Prior to that, she was an active member of Meadowbrook Presbyterian Church. Susan cherished the time she spent working with her grandparents and “Uncle BB” at Cliff’s Oyster Bar and Seafood Restaurant. She graduated from North Pitt High School in 1975 and attended East Carolina University. Susan was an EMS instructor, serving many years with both Bethel Rescue Squad and the Farmville Rescue & EMS.
