Tessie Medlin

Farmville…………………………………Tessie Medlin, age 77, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 5, 2024 surrounded by her family.

                                                                Tessie, the mother of her five adoring daughters, was the pastor’s wife at Damascus Road Baptist Church for the past 20+ years. Her church family referred to her as “Sunshine” because of her radiant smile and spirit that shone whenever she entered a room. Despite the years of numerous heart surgeries and complications that she suffered over the years, she was a beacon of hope and joy for all who met her.

                                                                Tessie with her husband of 59 years, Pastor Bill Medlin of Damascus Road Baptist Church, raised their daughters on the mission fields of Trinidad and Tobago, Grenada and the Bahamas. Her life was one of service and sacrifice, dedicated to spreading the gospel to all who crossed her path. Her testimony lives on through those she touched during her life and who witnessed her never-ending patience and compassion. She will be deeply missed by everyone who had privilege of meeting her.

                                                                She is survived by her husband, William Ernest Medlin, Jr. and their daughters, Lynne Medlin, Angel Fowler (Ron James), Alicia “Lee” Medlin, Arlette Whetstone (Danny Whetstone, Jr.) and Ava Tranum (Andy Tranum); grandchildren, Kayla Fowler, Amber Fowler, Tessa Fowler, Calli Bonda (Alex Bonda), Audrianna Cornwell (Evan Cornwell), Alexis Larson (Tylar Larson), Colby Skrivan, Drew Tranum, and Brooke Tranum; great-grandchildren, Ricki Israel, Raven Fowler, Grayson Church, Bennett Bonda, Tinsley Cornwell, Lakelynn Larson and Stetson Larson; siblings, Yolanda Pantonial (Jayson Bublitz), Lynn Corbitt (DeWayne Corbitt), Ric Pantonial (Terri Pantonial); sister-in-law, Dolly Pantonial and beloved nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her dear friend, Emma Cartwright of Nassau, Bahamas.

                                                                Tessie was preceded in death by her grandson, Ssgt. Michael Donovan Reep; and by her siblings, Minda Pantonial, Tony Pantonial and Jose Pantonial.   

                                                                Funeral service will be conducted Wednesday, January 10, at 3 P.M. at Damascus Road Baptist Church. The family will be receiving friends prior to the celebration of life from 1:00 -3:00.
